The Centauri

Ambassador Londo Mollari

Ambassador Londo Mollari
The politically ambitious, materialistic and fun-loving Centauri ambassador to Babylon 5, and G'kar's long-time rival. Londo's desire to make the Centauri Republic great again led him to forge an alliance with the Shadows. When he tried to break the alliance in 2260, he was tricked into seeking their aid once more when Morden murdered his one true love, Adira, and pinned the blame on Lord Refa. Londo enlisted G'Kar's help to kill Refa, and in the process took a step closer to becoming Centauri Emperor. However as Londo's power increased, he drew closer to his ultimate destiny to die while killing G'kar. Londo became Emperor in 2262.

Vir Cotto

Vir Cotto

Londo's diplomatic aide. He witnessed his descent into darkness, before deciding to take a stand by secretly transporting Narns off their occupied home world. Sheridan's trip into the future suggests Vir is destined to succeed Londo as emperor one day. He feels somewhat powerless in his position, close to the major decisions but always on the sidelines. Ambassador Mollari's trusted aide, Vir Cotto often questions his superior's unethical choices. He is destined to one day become Emperor of the Centauri.

Lord Refa

Lord Refa

Lord Refa was a ruthless, unprincipled Centauri noble who worked with Londo in a bid for power. But increasingly, Refa and Londo found themselves at odds when Londo realized he was uncomfortable with the chaos he had initiated. When the Emperor of the Centauri Republic lay dying, Refa moved in on the Emperor's position. He assasinated Prime Minister Malachi, and thus enabled Cartagia to become Emperor, with himself as an Advisor to the Emperor. Refa organised the attack on the Narn homeworld, and he was personally responsible for the death of 5 or 6 million Narns. In 2260, Londo finally disgraced and eliminated Refa, by laying a trap for him on Narn. This ended in Refa's death on Narn when he tried to capture G'Kar.

Emperor Cartagia

Cartagia Cartagia became the Emperor of the Centauri Republic after the deaths of Emperor Turhan (who was his uncle) and Prime Minister Malachi. However, Emperor Cartagia was insane. When the Shadows went to Centauri Prime to keep some of their ships there. Cartagia agreed to let them stay, if they would grant him godhood in exchange for his loyalty. This did not happen, but he believed it would. When the Vorlons were headed to Centauri Prime, Cartagia was willing to let the entire planet burn, if if would grant him his godhood. When Londo and others realised he was insane, and that the only way to save Centauri Prime was to kill him, they lured him to Narn to perform G'Kar's trial and execution. G'Kar created a diversion, and Londo ostensibly "rescued" Cartagia. Now Cartagia was vulnerable, away from his personal guards, Londo tried to insert an untraceable poison into Cartagia. He failed, but Vir was nearby and he performed the execution.

The Regent

The Regent

He also saw that the Emperor was insane, as did everyone else in the royal court, but he decided that it was better to keep quiet. He told Londo that others had spoken up against the Emperor, and they all disappeared. He also told Londo about the Emperor's room, where he kept the heads of all who opposed him, to speak to. Shortly after he became Regent, he was implanted with a keeper by the Drakh, who were the dark servants of the Shadows. He became ill, and died in 2262, when Londo Mollari suceeded him as Emperor.
